This scarf was created in memory of Kian Pirfalak, a 9 year old boy who was killed in a shooting by the security forces of Islamic Republic of Iran in his parent's vehicle in Izeh, on their way home. Kian’s death sparked a nationwide outrage against the government and the childhood home and museum of Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini's was set on fire on November 17, 2022. Days after his death, UNICEF issued a statement condemning the death and detention of children in the wake of the 2022 protests in Iran. As of Feb 2023, 527 adults and 71 children have died in the protests sparked by Mahsa Amini's death. A viral video circulated online of young Kian testing his hand-made boat, where he started his video with: “In the name of the God of rainbows", which has become one of the movement's slogans.
This scarf was created in memory of Kian Pirfalak and is composed of rainbow colors in his honor. Izeh is famous for its dam and ancient monuments that are located in Kul-e Farah, The population of Izeh mainly consists of Bakhtiaris.
In 2022, 100% of proceeds from the sale of this scarf was donated to Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch in Iran.
