FASHION WITHOUT BORDERS

Azin Valy, co-founder of the award winning multi-disciplinary Architecture firm, I-Beam Design, is the creator of the emerging fashion brand, Cityzen by Azin. Her research for an urban planning exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art led to the formation of Cityzen by Azin.

As an Iranian/American, Azin has always straddled the two cultures, dispelling misconceptions and treasuring her love of both. Her passion for travel, design, cultural curiosity and empathy towards global issues has led her to the creation of Cityzen by Azin and has reignited her childhood love of fashion.

Cityzen by Azin transforms aerial views of cities into wearable art, taking inspiration from colors and patterns of the earth from above. It promotes a global dialogue and diplomacy through fashion by transcending physical and mental borders believing that the arts bridge differences, technology reveals beauty, inter-connectivity leads to new discoveries, and taking the long view brings our commonalities into focus.

The Cityzen scarf is a universal article of clothing that links women and men across the world sharing their commonalities and respecting their differences. It provides a breathtaking perspective of the world and is accompanied by a mini guide that celebrates each place, leveraging fashion for social impact by promoting various causes worldwide.

The Cityzen bespoke apparel superimposes and maps the body according to each city, connecting the heart and soul of a person to a place. Form follows topography with mountains defining necklines, rivers meandering around the curves of the body, and roads marking transitions in a garment, retaining a sense of bespoke individuality that transports the wearer to another part of the world.
